Over 75 years ago, famed entertainer Bob Hope brought a hand-carved wood Nativity (3/4 life-sized) to his home in Encino, CA as a gift to his wife, Deloris. Carved in the Val Gardena region of Italy (circa 1950), the statues became a quiet fixture of holiday celebration in Los Angeles. Upon Deloris Hope's passing, the Nativity has been on display every year at the Cathedral of our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles since 2013.
Now, the badly damaged and worn statues are being restored by expert, Sheila Lehman of La Porte Vintage, Arcadia, CA.
